PCS 2024: More than a passion

It’s that time of year again. After writing about some quirky or amusing statistics, looking ahead to the new year with the transfers, encapsulating Pogacar’s extraordinary year in numbers, and blowing out the year’s candle in traditional fashion by selecting your all-time favorite riders, we at PCS couldn’t help but feel a bit sentimental.
Another year over. And a new one just begun, as John Lennon so beautifully sang. But did John ride bikes? We don't know. Anyways. As we unwind and recover from New Year's Eve we permit ourselves a moment to look back at our own 2024 - a year in which we once again gave it our all to support your passion for cycling and following the sport as closely as possible.

And once again, you were many over the past year—well over 10 million in total. Together, we form a community united by a shared passion, and it has truly shown. This year, for the first time, we were proud to surpass 2 million pageviews per day on average for the first time. Altogether we had our 3,000,000,000th pageview on August the 14th. Incredible numbers we are very thankful for.

The number of races - the thrilling battles between the protagonists, the stars of our sport - continued to grow throughout 2024. This growth was further fueled by our ongoing efforts to expand the platform and include an ever-increasing number of national results - a task we relish, as it allows us to uncover emerging talents and support dedicated racers on 'amateur' level.

All of this combined led to a record-breaking number of results being added to our database. For races held in 2024 alone, we recorded over 750,000 new results - that’s three-quarters of a million. Incredible!

But it doesn’t stop there. In addition to covering races held in 2024, we remain highly active behind the scenes, enriching our database with historical results. Much of this work is made possible by you - a loyal group of followers who contribute by providing and filling in missing results. We are deeply grateful for your support. Together, we are building the most comprehensive cycling encyclopedia possible!

Together, we added almost 800,000 historical result lines to our database over the past two years!

And then there’s our live coverage - something we approach with immense passion and dedication to ensure that you can follow the race closely, no matter where you are.

That also saw significant growth in 2024, on our end as well. We presented 634 PCS LiveStats over the past year in men’s and women’s road racing and cyclocross. To better serve you, we are increasingly covering well-stacked races at the .1 level. It’s an extra service that we’re excited to continue rolling out.

We now have nearly 3,000 statistics and information tags to provide the most detailed and clear coverage of every situation in the race. And that number will keep growing, as the race, just like us, never stands still.

Finally, the riders, because they are what make the race, and their unique character and set of qualities turn our passion into what it is.

The number of riders continues to grow, and it did so again in 2024. We now have over 160,000 cyclists in our database.
