Description
The second stage of the 1999 Tour de France took the peloton over the infamous Passage du Gois, a road that floods twice a day. On the slippery roads, approximately 80 kilometers into the race, a big crash happened, creating a 6-minute split in the peloton. The main victims of the crash were Christophe Rinero, Michael Boogerd, Ivan Gotti and Alex Zülle.
